What Is It?

Almighty Acorn Armageddon is a project from my Sophomore year Rapid Prototyping class. We're given teams of ~8 and 3 weeks to create prototypes to expand on in our Junior year Game Production II class.

Almighty Acorn Armageddon was a challenge in making a multiplayer game. 3 players are squirrels trying to plant acorns, and 1 player is a human trying to rid their yard of squirrels. It uses a cops and robbers system to put squirrels in jail if they're caught and allow fellow squirrels to break them out. If all squirrels are caught or the squirrels don't succeed in planting all 5 of their acorns in 2 minutes, the human wins.

What Is My Role?

As the producer of Almighty Acorn Armageddon, I worked to make sure that we had time to fail and iterate so that our prototype could be the best it could be.

My responsibilities include:

  • Delegating tasks

  • Road mapping

  • Run daily stand-ups

  • Presented progress to professor

  • Playtesting

  • Giving feedback

  • Maintained Trello

  • Promoting iteration

The focus for these prototypes was to create small but fun gameplay loops that could be expanded on. Our challenges with this project were making the game work with 2-4 players, making every player feel important, and keeping it a fair fight.
